Are You As Excited As We Are?

Angela Merkel and Wolfgang Niersbach,
German National Ministers of Fun.

Yes, its a few years away still, but we love international football tournaments! Now that the Olympics are over, we look forward to the 2011 Women's World Cup in Germany. The Germans have announced the 9 city sites so you can make your plans now.

*Steffi Jones, who fans of 1.FFC Frankfurt and Washington Freedom will remember, is President of the Organizing Committee.

* The other announcement of consequence is that FIFA has decided to keep the participating team number to 16, instead of raising it to 24 teams. Given the German's 11-0 victory over Argentina in the 2007 World Cup, team parity may not be an issue yet!

*If you're wondering why this matters, qualification presumably starts in 2009 in Europe and 2010 in North America. Stay tuned!

Dear Anja: Come On-A Our House! Bitte!

Well, after all the talk (summarized here) about how no German women will come over to the WPS, Bay Area has added Anja Mittag to their post-International Draft Discovery List. Mittag is a top-tier MF for 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam and a World Cup winner and Bronze Medalist with the German WNT.

Oddly enough, there is no mention of this event on Mittag's website, but we encourage you to visit her site anyway! It's very professional and has all the info an Anja-follower could want. Plus you can add a plea for her to come to the US! Sadly, she and the other German players will probably stay in Germany until after the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup.

PS - Thank you, Bay Area, for trailblazing a path to Germany. Good on ya, Mates! It make us feel somewhat bad for all the criticism we level at your team.

UPDATED!! You Follow Soccer with the Blog You Have, Not the Blog You Wish You Had

Well, here's the FINAL info we have on the upcoming US WNT Achieve Your Gold tour. It's final info, and it seems to be all the info available. Check on US Soccer. We'll let you know when we know more. Enjoy: November 2008-3 games versus South Korea

November 1 - Richmond, VA 6PM

November 5 - Cincinnati, OH 7:30PM

November 8 - Tampa , FL 7PM

Rumsfeld decrees that South Korea is the second country in the Axis of Soccer Evil.

As shown by our prior post, we thought all of the games would be in WPS cities. Oh well.

Go to Ticketmaster to get your tickets!!!

Shhh...something is not right...

It's a conspiracy. I know it is. We're talking JFK Assassination size.
Get this: they just created the Women's Professional Soccer league. Now they want us to get excited about the players that'll play in that league. So they trot the WNT players out on an "Achieve Your Gold" three-game propaganda tour. And here's what "happened":
Heather O'Reilly mocks the ignorant masses.
The league holds its Allocation and puts players on different teams. (Seriously, who uses a word like "allocation" other than the totalitarian Big Brother?)
Natasha Kai and Heather O'Reilly get allocated to the team that will play in New Jersey in 2009. During the first game of the WNT's "Steal Your Gold" tour in Philadelphia (conveniently located near New Jersey), both women score goals. THEN, during the second game of the "Gimme Your Gold" tour in New Jersey, Natasha scores again.
So this is where it all comes together. In the third game of the "Covet Your Gold" tour in Chicago, Lori Chalupny and Kate Markgraf score. Well you might have guessed this: Lori had been allocated to St. Louis and Kate is on none other than the Chicago Red Stars. Now it's all clear. They have fixed the games so the local women score!
To top it all off, Pia Sundhage, coach of the US WNT said: "I think the game went well...I think they had a lot of fun out there and that’s the most important thing..."

OK Pia, how could you have "fun" playing soccer...unless you know you're going to win!?!?

So it begins. This is how they fleece you, the fan. And you'll follow willingly. You will be controlled.

Ireland is in on it, so obviously it's gone global.

An Orwellian nightmare. Don't trust anyone.

The New Scourge of Ireland

Natasha Kai scored again! Nice left footer to the bottom of the net at 72'. She's 2 for 2 in games against Ireland this month. It was her 15th goal this year!

I'm happy about the win, but shouldn't the #1 FIFA ranked team stick it to the #28 ranked team a little better? Especially after winning the Olympic gold?

Consider this: FIFA co-ranked Ireland with Argentina, the same team that lost 11-0 to Germany in the 2007 World Cup! Maybe the close scores between the US and Ireland signal the move to team parity, but I doubt it!

Olympic Champions Again

USA Women's National Team's Third Gold Medal...
